Oh My Gosh! I'm in love with an exterminator! This was everything I hoped for as far as discouraging spiders goes! I am a vegetarian and I won't kill anything I won't eat (look out tuna!) and I have two cats and I won't expose them to harmful chemicals. I am changing my outside light bulbs and getting a web-brush remover thingy first thing tomorrow morning! Wish me luck and thank you very much!

How do I keep spiders from around my windows. They poop and leave a mess even though I do not see them.

They are attracted to lights coming from the windows at night. Close your curtains or turn off your lights.

Hi Rick,

I live in Haymarket, VA and have wolf spiders in my backyard. I was using Ortho Home Defense Max which keeps it somewhat under control, but not as much as I'd like in the basement. I was using a home service called "HomeShield" which was bought out by Terminix and unfortunately Terminix prices are extreme and when they came to my house today, I was totally not impressed with the service they provided, versus homeshield and the detail spray they provided in my home.

Is there a product over the counter or online that I can buy that is of a professional grade that you could recommend so that I can save money and not pay $500 a year for Terminix?

Thank you,

David Feliciano

Spider control is difficult, but there are products that will provide some relief. Please read the short article at this link: http://www.asktheexterminator.com/spiders/Spider_Control.shtml. It has two links in the article that will take you to some good spider control products.

Hello! I care for an outside bathhouse facility in which the light stays on 24/7 (out of my control), we are overrun with what we call granddaddy long leggs. We use a leaf blower to remove them temporarily just to have them return in full force by days end. They are so bad that the people using the bathhouse are fearful of them falling our their heads. They are just large piles of them all over every roof "seam". Is there anything we can do to discourage them from returning? I really don't do well with spiders of any kind (even the ones that aren't really spiders).. Thanks... Creeped out in Louisiana...Jennifer

Try some applications of Talstar Pro on the sides of the bathhouse and under the roofline where the spiders hide. You can see this product at this link: http://shop.asktheexterminator.com/talstar-pro.html. There's a label at that site, as well.
