Dog Fleas

Any experienced pet owner can tell you all the obvious signs when your pet has acquired a case of dog fleas. Fido becomes restless and can’t get settled in his favorite bed. He might develop some sore spots or even lose patches of hair.

Check you pet again and this time look more closely. You’re looking for small

specs of what looks like dirt, but which actually is dog flea feces. Take the sample of flea dirt and add a drop of water, then rub it between your fingers. If the mixture turns red you know you are dealing with fleas. The “red” is the dried blood that’s in the fleas dirt.

Once you’ve confirmed your dog has fleas you’ll need to treat your pet, the pet bedding and any location in the house where you allow your pet access. Killing dog fleas will require you to spend some money. That might mean some pain in the wallet, but nothing compared to what your poor pet is going through.
